We are celebrating 5 years of providing free training and development to people on the move. How did this initiative come about?

The Scalabrini Training Center for Migrants was created as a response to the need for a comprehensive approach to the challenges posed by migration. Its purpose is to support migrants, displaced people, repatriates, refugees, and those in vulnerable situations in their social and work integration process by helping them discover, develop, and strengthen their skills and abilities—actions that will be very helpful in facing the challenges and realities that come with arriving in a new city and having to start a new life project.

At CESFOM, we are aware that education contributes to human development in all its aspects, which is why we aim for the courses and workshops offered to migrants to impact not only their ability to find better jobs but also give them a boost to gain better opportunities and improve themselves as individuals: a hopeful vision regarding their new reality in this multicultural border city.

Working with migrants has taught us that they are not just vulnerable people, but a force that can drive our society, allowing for constant renewal and the flow of fresh ideas and initiatives. In this sense, CESFOM’s intention is to nurture the great engine of society that migrants are, with the goal of creating a positive impact in this city of Tijuana.

At CESFOM, many adults and their families have acquired and continue to acquire the tools to fulfill their goals, dreams, and life plans.
